Join us as we explore Namibia’s great mountains of sand, windswept gravel plains, uninterrupted landscapes, and ephemeral water sources in search of arid-adapted wildlife and remote cultures.
We will visit the red dunes at Sossusvlei, stark white pan of Etosha National Park, the petroglyphs and rugged environment of Damaraland, and the distant Kunene River. Our program will also provide a close look at the fragile, pristine landscapes of the Skeleton Coast. To walk along its lonely beaches scattered with whalebones, shipwrecks, and enormous seal colonies is truly a humbling experience.
Self-driving options will be presented along with suggestions for overland trips. We will discuss the best ways to experience wild and desolate areas where guest numbers are restricted.
Presented by Erica Varga, who in the 1990s led people from around the globe on overland safaris in southern Africa. Today she owns Worlds Away Safaris based on Bainbridge Island.
